Interpretation of broker’s reservations in Rently

There are two types of broker bookings. Depending on which type of booking it is, each commercial agreement will have been configured accordingly. The configuration of the commercial agreement determines the breakdown of price items in the bookings and the subsequent breakdown of the total between “agency” and “client”.

Prepaid bookings.

The final client pays a part or the totality of the booking on the broker's site. Then, the broker will pay you. Brokers usually ask you to send them a settlement of completed bookings in the previous month to review and then pay you. These processes are determined by the brokers and are usually explained in the contracts they sign with you.

To understand what amount is prepaid and what amount is payable by the client at the destination, see the following:

EXAMPLE PREPAID BOOKING 1

This example has 135.20 prepaid by the customer to the broker, an amount the broker owes you. We can also see that the client has nothing to pay over the counter, unless they add things on counter not contemplated in the original booking.

EXAMPLE PREPAID BOOKING 2

This example has 585.96 prepaid by the customer to the broker, which the broker owes you. We can also see that the client has 112.20 to pay over the counter.

It can happen that beyond a lot of testing, there are errors, for example:

-The total matches, but the agency or customer amounts are not exactly split compared to the customer's voucher.

- The client says they don't have to pay anything at the counter, but in Rently you see an amount assigned to the client. Sometimes clients do not know how to correctly interpret the data provided by the broker on the voucher but still report it to us for review.

If there is any inconsistency, we recommend that you do not resist what the client tells you, hand over the car, take a picture of the voucher or the proof they show you and immediately send an email with all this information to integrations@rentlysoft.com . The integrations team will solve the case before the date of return of the car. Please note that, if the delivery and return of the car are to take place during the same weekend, this might not be possible.

Pay-on-destination bookings.

The client pays a portion of the booking at the broker’s site, this amount usually matches the broker's commission. The client pays rest of the booking over the counter on the day of delivery, this amount matches the total price of the booking at Rently. There are no monthly settlements between you and the broker.

EXAMPLE PAY-ON-DESTINATION BOOKING

This example has no prepaid amount and the customer has 496.73 to pay over the counter. The broker owes you nothing.
